The Client:bidding
Children's Literacy Center

For an event so important that it raises almost a third of their operating budget, the Children’s Literacy Center turned to IML to supply electronic bidding and pledging devices for the second year in a row.

As the first and only nonprofit to use electronic bidding and pledging devices in Colorado Springs, the organization is always looking for something fun and new for their guests. The use of IML’s bidding devices sets them apart from other events in town and helps ensure they remain the premier event in Colorado Springs.

After 15 events and 13 years of using pledge sheets, the Children’s Literacy Center was looking for something new. So, they enlisted IML’s help for their 2010 event and after its success, they sought to find out if the technology was worth using another year. Almost all of reviews were fantastic and they asked IML to help make their 2011 event even more successful. And it was; the Children’s Literacy Center raised more money at their event this year than any other year!

Since this was the second year the Children’s Literacy Center had used IML’s handheld devices, guests were more familiar with them, knew what to expect and came prepared to bid! During the official silent auction bidding time, they raised over $14,000, and when the guests went into the dining room for dinner (taking their bidding devices with them) they raised another $7,000 dollars in only 15 minutes! That’s one third of the total silent auction revenue that would have been left on the table if guests had had to stop bidding once they left the display area. And not only do IML’s bidding devices benefit the bottom line for the organization, they also allow the guests to enjoy their time at the event, socialize more and alleviate the stress of trying to win that coveted item!

Executive Director Gina Solazzi from the Children’s Literacy Center says, “We will never ‘go back’ to paper bidding sheets. We’re hooked!”
